NATO Chief Criticizes North Korea, Russia, China Display
(MENAFN) NATO’s military leader stated that the recent demonstration of solidarity among North Korean, Russian, and Chinese leaders was only a "show" and does not represent a formal military alliance, according to a news agency.
Giuseppe Cavo Dragone made the remarks following the appearance of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, Chinese President Xi Jinping, and Russian President Vladimir Putin together at a Chinese military parade last Wednesday.
"It's not a military threat, because they don't share anything in common. They lack standardization, interoperability, and unified tactics," Cavo Dragone told the news agency on Tuesday during the Seoul Defense Dialogue, an annual multilateral security forum that started on Monday.
He added, "They cannot fight together the way NATO does after 75 years of training."
Cavo Dragone described the event as "a show, a show of flags, but nothing more than that… It is not an operational entity," while noting that the three nations could still derive economic and diplomatic advantages from their relationship.
He also highlighted the expanding security connections between NATO and the Indo-Pacific region, stressing that interconnectivity is vital in today’s global security environment.
He called for coordinated international action to address threats such as North Korea’s nuclear and missile programs.
